A Wedding Ceremony at Hollis Congregational Church
Kerry and Jake began their wedding day at Hollis Congregational Church in Hollis, New Hampshire.
The historic church provided a traditional setting that did not require extensive decoration. Its architecture and the soft October light created a warm, timeless atmosphere for the ceremony.
For Kerry, the ceremony included two particularly meaningful family details.
She wore her grandmother’s engagement ring, an heirloom passed down through the women in her family. Carrying that ring into her own marriage created a quiet connection to the generations of love that preceded her wedding day.
Kerry also attached a small photograph of her father to her bridal bouquet. He passed away when she was a teenager, but this allowed her to carry his memory with her as she walked down the aisle.
These were not decorative details selected to fit a theme. They were personal choices that gave the ceremony meaning far beyond its visual design.
An October Reception at Bedford Village Inn
Following the ceremony, guests traveled to Bedford Village Inn in Bedford, New Hampshire.
Known for its historic New England character and welcoming event spaces, Bedford Village Inn was a natural fit for the couple’s classic fall reception. The venue gave them a polished setting that still felt warm, comfortable, and inviting.
The reception design combined hunter green, deep red, white, and gold. These colors complemented the season without turning the wedding into an overly literal autumn theme.
Deep-Red Florals and Gold Details
Deep-red and white floral arrangements anchored the reception tables. Gold mercury-glass votive candles surrounded the centerpieces, creating a warm glow as the evening continued.
White linens provided a clean foundation and kept the deeper colors from overwhelming the room.
Each place setting included a gold charger topped with a white napkin folded into a pocket. The couple’s menu card was tucked inside and finished with gold ribbon and a sprig of salal leaf.
Although each individual detail was simple, together they created a layered and thoughtful tablescape.
This is where cohesive wedding design matters. The napkins, menus, greenery, florals, chargers, and candlelight were not separate decorative decisions. Each element supported the same visual story.
Hunter Green Wedding Attire
Kerry’s attendants wore hunter green dresses in individually selected styles. The consistent color connected the wedding party to the reception palette, while the different silhouettes allowed each person to choose a dress that suited her.
The groomsmen wore classic black suits.
Jake chose a custom navy and black tuxedo, giving him a distinctive look while still complementing the rest of the wedding party.
The result felt coordinated without appearing overly matched.
A Mother-Daughter Wedding Dance
One of the most memorable moments of the reception was Kerry’s dance with her mother.
Rather than choosing a traditional slow dance, they performed a choreographed medley of songs. It was joyful, energetic, and deeply personal.
Because Kerry’s father could not be there, the dance allowed her mother to step into that important moment in a way that felt authentic to their relationship.
The performance became more than a scheduled reception tradition. It was a celebration of their bond and one of the moments guests would continue talking about after the wedding.

Kerry and Jake’s wedding was beautiful, but its most important elements were not simply visual.
The heirloom engagement ring, the photograph attached to Kerry’s bouquet, and the choreographed dance with her mother each carried part of her family’s story.
